I've felt led again and again over the past few months to focus attention on creating more meaningful connection with the heart center in the practices I've been guiding. And the practice I shared this morning for our monthly Moving Meditation session was no exception. I've been sitting here trying to summarize the ground I covered but there's a lot and it dawned on me that I cannot guess what will resonate most with you so I've dropped the whole practice into the Soul-Centered Free Membership Space for you to enjoy at your convenience. Today is an energetically auspicious day referred to as the Lion's Gate Portal - the 8th day of the 8th month of the year. The number 8 is associated with abundance and limitless potential (turn it on it's side and 8 becomes βΎοΈ ), making this an energetically supportive day to connect with your intentions and the courage of your heart to take the first, next or best step in the direction you most genuinely wish to travel. Many astrologers say that the "window" of the Lion's Gate Portal opened in late July and will remain open through August 12th so you may have been feeling the energies of the Lion, of fire, of a swelling roar (yours, someone else's or the world at large) for some time now. And while this may be a specific window of abundant energetic support, please remember that you don't NEED additional, specially anointed energetic support to move in the direction of your heart's desire and most deeply held intentions - access to your power and the courage of your heart is available to you every day and at any time (there's no special boat π€ that you need fear you'll miss if sitting with your intentions sounds more like a pipe dream than an opportunity at the moment). β Here are three elements from today's practice that you can explore right where you are seated while reading this email - 1- Grounding - the simplest way I know is to pay attention to first your breath and then your feet for a few moments until you feel settled into your body (our energy can become centered in the mind so we start to feel a bit floaty and disembodied) and are able to notice the sensation of your feet touching the ground 2- Heart-centered Focus - place your hands over your heart and invite your focus to rest there as you continue to breathe deeply without strain; you may find this very settling (and also somewhat unsettling depending on how accustomed to allowing your attention to rest inward you are); whatever you experience is just right 3- Intention -setting - ask yourself what you'd like to welcome more of into your life - however specific (a new job; a safer place to live; more fulfilling relationships) or general (greater health, increased wealth, more peace, love and calmness) the answer may be and imagine yourself reorienting your inner posture - perhaps pointing your heart- even 1 degree more in that direction; return to 1 & 2 as needed to settle back into yourself if anything about the intention-setting begins to feel at all overwhelming Bonus: energizing breath - if you are somewhere you don't mind practicing your roar, add a layer of Lion's Breath (Sidhasana) into the mix; take a deep breath in and as you exhale, open your mouth, stick out your tongue, look up toward your third eye and make a hissing sound (or full throated roar or anything in between) with your throat Return to the elements that felt most supportive to you as often as you'd like. β Dear Soul, I'm sensing that it is time to be as heart-centered and grounded within ourselves and in our lives as possible and that It's time to connect with the courage of the heart and to drop our fear of letting our hearts roar!
